OVERVIEW

The Thakur Ramnarayan College of Law (“TRCL”) Placement and Higher Education Cell was started in the Academic Year 2017-18. The TRCL Placement and Higher Education Cell is one of the most important committees of TRCL, believing in providing promising career opportunities to young law students graduating from TRCL. The TRCL Placement and Higher Education Cell acts as a strong link and facilitator between potential recruiters, encompassing law firms, counsels, LPOs, corporate houses and non-governmental organisations, and students in order to ensure that our students get placements on campus.

The members of the TRCL Placement and Higher Education Cell, have since its inception, played an important role in providing diverse opportunities to our students to explore and participate in the practical aspects of legal fields through internships as well as long term research assignments. In the past, diverse entities have collaborated with the TRCL Placement and Higher Education Cell in providing opportunities to our students.

At TRCL, the Placement and Higher Education Cell is committed to empower students with pre- placement skills that ensures best placements. We offer internships to all our students, across all our programmes, that enhances their awareness of the world of work, accelerates personal maturity, self- awareness and ability to articulate skills and achievements thereby creating competitive lawyers.

INTERNSHIPS

TRCL takes pride in stating that its students are offered internship opportunities since its first year of inception with renowned advocates, law firms, corporate houses and non-governmental organisations that have assisted the students in identifying and achieving their own personal potential. We have adopted the best practice of providing internships to our students from the First Year itself to both B.L.S./LL.B. and LL.B. programmes.

Ever since the inception in Academic Year 2017-2018, over 115 students of TRCL, across all our programmes, have secured diverse and enriching internship opportunities with a range of employers. Some of these law firms, companies, advocates and NGOs that TRCL has associated with over the years.

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT

Another important component of the TRCL Placement and Higher Education Cell is its heavy emphasis upon providing professional and soft-skills training and development of our students. Apart from academic importance, TRCL believes in the need to provide training to its students to be able to efficiently and effectively undertake the work assignments that are part of their internships and placements. Over the years, the TRCL Placement and Higher Education Cell has collaborated with different professionals and trainers to engage with our students and equip them with suitable, required professional skills.

MOU’s

At TRCL, we try to meet with our students’ requirements of learning through practical experiences. To meet with the same, we have associated with two Non- Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to sensitize students and raise their awareness towards various socio- legal challenges and their role in effective citizenship.

• Praja Foundation: Praja is a non-profit organisation working towards enabling accountable governance since 1997. Praja envisions improving the quality of life for all through simplifying people's lives, creating tools for better governance and making democracy work.t
• Global Care Foundation: Global Care Foundation, is an NGO registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950, bearing Reg. No. E-33688. Its focus areas are releasing Non-Habitual Under-Trials by providing Legal and Financial Aid, and after their release assisting them with counselling, rehabilitation and skill development, conducting Legal/Social Awareness Programs for the public at large, providing free legal guidance to people in need of assistance through Legal Aid Clinics, and organizing Para-Legal Training Programs.
